DENVER (KDVR) — Chandler Lipe, the founder and CEO of The Den in Denver, reached out to the FOX31 Problem Solvers after she said she's been dealing with construction outside her business since the start of May. “It's really challenging to navigate what we need to do with the city in order to open on top of everything you have to navigate with a small business, with a new concept," Lipe said. Lipe's business is a family-friendly social club for parents and kids along with a coffee shop at the front. She said they officially opened their doors on April 29, but things have been bumpy and loud since. “This is my only entrance, it's completely blocked off, people can't come get coffee or, more importantly, families coming in with small children," Lipe said. "It is not safe." Aurora one step closer to reviving reserve police force Lipe said they lost revenue during the construction period because she said there were days she had to close her doors, or often the construction made it loo...What is the UV index, and why is it so high in Denver?

DENVER (KDVR) -- If you've ever thought the Denver sun felt just a little stronger than in other places, you may be right. You might have also seen the Pinpoint Weather team talking about the UV index during forecasts and wondered what it means. What is the UV index and how is it calculated? The UV index is the predicted level of ultraviolet radiation in an area and the risk of overexposure. The levels range from low — less than 2 — to over 11, which is considered extreme. The National Weather Service calculates the UV index based on a number of factors. One of those factors is elevation: The higher the elevation, the less atmosphere there is to absorb damaging UV rays, according to the NWS. Colorado saw 8th-highest influx of high earners during the pandemic This means in places at particularly high elevations — such as the Mile High City of Denver — there is more UV radiation.Cloud cover, haze and dust and even air pollution can work to lower the UV index. Deb Balzer | Mayo Clinic News Network (TNS)Cardiac arrest, or sudden cardiac arrest as it is more formally known, is a medical emergency. It happens when an event, usually an electrical disturbance, quickly and unexpectedly causes your heart to stop working. It’s not the same as a heart attack and is called sudden because it seems to happen without warning.Dr. Christopher DeSimone, a Mayo cardiac electrophysiologist specializing in abnormal cardiac rhythm, answers questions about cardiac arrest, the differences between cardiac arrest and heart attack, and why time is critical when treating someone with cardiac arrest.QUESTION: What happens during cardiac arrest?Cardiac arrest is when the heart cannot fulfill its duties and pump blood, especially oxygenated blood, around the body to get to critical areas, such as the brain. By Mayo Clinic News Network (TNS)DEAR MAYO CLINIC: My husband recently celebrated his 49th birthday. He is generally healthy, and we follow a Mediterranean diet and exercise together several times a week. But he hasn’t been to the doctor in years, as we moved just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Do you think it’s necessary for him to have an annual health check at this time or wait until his milestone birthday next year?ANSWER: As men age, even those accustomed to good health may encounter symptoms that affect their quality of life. I am a big proponent of establishing care with a general health specialist and maintaining annual visits to ensure patients can remain as healthy as possible.Having a well-check visit can help identify your husband’s risk for specific conditions and whether there are screenings or tests that could be valuable to ensure he remains healthy. Also, it would provide the opportunity to discuss any early symptoms or areas of concern that your husband — like man...The Mets are trading 3-time Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander to the Astros, AP sources says
