LOS ANGELES — Andre Braugher, the Emmy-winning actor best known for his roles on the series “Homicide: Life on The Street” and “Brooklyn 99,” died Monday at age 61.Braugher’s publicist Jennifer Allen told The Associated Press the actor died after a short illness.The Chicago-born actor had his breakthrough role in 1989’s “Glory,” starring alongside Morgan Freeman and Denzel Washington, who won an Oscar for the film about an all-Black army regiment during the the Civil War.Despite the part, he told The Associated Press in 2019 that he struggled to find work in a Hollywood where roles for African American actors were “few and far between. A 39-year-old Denver man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a fatal road rage shooting at a Tesla supercharger station outside Edgewater Public Market in May.Jeremy Smith was arrested by Edgewater police on suspicion of second-degree murder and manslaughter in the May 3 death of 33-year-old Adam Fresquez.According to a news release from the Edgewater Police Department, Fresquez and Smith arrived at the charging station at Edgewater Public Market, 5505 W. 20th Ave., within seconds of each other at approximately 9:39 a.m.Investigators determined that Fresquez and Smith, both driving Teslas, were involved in a road rage incident that culminated in Fresquez being maced and shot twice in the back. Actor Andre Braugher, who starred as the dry and serious Captain Raymond Holt on the NBC sitcom "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," has died, according to reports. According to Deadline, Braugher died after battling a brief illness. Police in Culver City are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating a man who sexually assaulted a juvenile after entering a residence in the Blair Hills community. The incident, according to a news release from the Culver City Police Department, occurred on Dec. 2. The adult male suspect allegedly entered the residence at around 2-3 a.m., assaulted the victim and left the residence approximately four to five hours later, at around 7 a.m., on foot. Police responded to the Blair Hills residence at around 7:45 a.m. after receiving a call about the sexual assault. A 62-year-old man who worked as a youth coordinator for a church in Ventura County has been convicted by a jury for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl, authorities announced on Tuesday. Vidal Vargas Morales, a resident of Fillmore, was found guilty of one felony count of lewd acts upon a child, along with the special allegation that he “took advantage of a position of trust and confidence to commit the offense,” a news release from the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office stated. Morales met the victim in a catechism class at a church in Fillmore in 2013, and between October and November began “inappropriate communications” with the teen, both verbally and through text messages.
