Video shows man setting fire to Lake County jail lobby CROWN POINT, Ind. — Lake County Indiana Sheriffs are looking for the man who started a fire in the lobby of the county's northwest Indiana jail. The sheriff released surveillance video of the incident that shows the unidentified suspect spraying an accelerant all over the floor to get the flames to spread.    Fire crews from Lake County Fire and Rescue and Merrillville Fire Department responded to the call but the fire was out upon arrival. Local students take part in unified PE with Special Olympics NY GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- More than 100 local students teamed up on Monday to play some classic backyard games for a good cause. Guilderland High School partnered with Special Olympics New York to host a unified physical education competition event.The unified PE class brought together students with and without intellectual disabilities. They participated in five different games, including can jam and cornhole. Organizers said the goal was to give everyone the chance to participate in an athletic competition. Sneaky purse thieves caught on video in Beverly Hills A pair of thieves have been arrested after snatching purses from unsuspecting customers at some Beverly Hills restaurants over the weekend.  Video captured the suspects at Wally’s, an upscale wine and cheese bar on Canon Drive, on Saturday.  The footage shows a male and female suspect standing behind a table of customers. The man appears to be having a conversation on his cellphone when the woman is seen easily sliding a customer’s purse off the back of the chair and then placing it in a larger handbag she had on her shoulder. The duo then casually turns, appear to speak to an employee and then walk out of the establishment.  Beverly Hills police told KTLA that after the suspects left Wally’s, they strolled down Canon Drive where they committed the same crime at yet another restaurant.  This incident comes on the heels of another purse snatching on Mother's Day that was captured on camera at a popular restaurant in Culver City. San Jose man arrested in connection with Pacifica robbery PACIFICA – Authorities have arrested a 39-year-old San Jose man in connection with a strong-arm robbery in Pacifica.The incident was reported around 10:45 p.m. Friday at the Linda Mar Shopping Center, near Highway 1 and Linda Mar Boulevard, the Pacifica Police Department said in a statement Monday.The man tried to steal a shopping cart full of goods and assaulted an employee who tried to stop him, according to police. He then left the area in a black BMW but not before the employee, who was not injured, took pictures of the man and the car, police said.Around 1:25 p.m. Saturday, officers found the man and the car at the same shopping center and arrested him.Officers also arrested a 33-year-old San Jose woman who was with him. OPD makes arrest for April homicide (KRON) -- The Oakland Police Department arrested a suspect for a homicide that happened on April 9, police announced Monday. Sean Bryant was arrested for the killing of Lannie Ross, who was slain in a shooting on the 3200 block of Filbert Street just after 7 p.m. on April 9. OPD said Bryant was charged by the Alameda County District Attorney's office for Ross' killing. Woman and two children found dead in Fremont, police investigating "Due to the hard work and combined efforts of OPD officers assigned to the Violent Crime Operations Center (VCOC), Homicide Investigators, and the US Marshals Task Force, Bryant was safely taken into custody," OPD said. The address of the homicide is in West Oakland, just off San Pablo Avenue. It is one block away from popular Oakland diner Nib's and several blocks away from Hoover Elementary School.
