Fountain police shoot suspect, dog while responding to domestic violence call

Two Fountain police officers shot a suspect and fatally wounded the person’s dog on Saturday evening after the officers were attacked, according to authorities.Officers responded to a domestic violence disturbance call before 6 p.m. near Taos Circle. As they were conducting their investigation, the dog attacked one of the officers and the suspect assaulted both the officers, according to a Fountain Police Department news release. Both police officers shot their guns at least one time, hitting the suspect and the dog.The suspect was taken to a hospital. Police did not disclose whether the suspect’s injuries were life-threatening but said the person had at least one gunshot wound. The dog died at the scene.One of the officers was also treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
