Wall Street’s weak start to 2024 carried into a third day. Stocks finished mixed on Thursday following reports showing the U.S. job market remains solid, though maybe a touch too strong. The S&P 500 slipped 0.3%, and is on track for its first losing week in the last 10. The Dow Jones Industrial Average eked out a gain of less than 0.1%, and the Nasdaq composite fell 0.6%. Walgreens Boots Alliance sank after cutting its dividend nearly in half in order to hold onto more cash. That helped overshadow gains for airlines and cruise-ship operators. A crash and dash in Pembroke Pines involving a stolen car triggered a search that led police to place three people under arrest.According to Pembroke Pines Police, the crash happened in the area of Southwest 196th Avenue and Pembroke Road, just after 9:15 a.m., Thursday. Investigators said the suspects crashed the stolen dark-colored BMW against a guardrail and fled on foot. The Broward Sheriff’s Office Missing Persons Unit is seeking the public’s help in locating 74-year-old Lynford Edwards, who has been reported missing from Lauderdale Lakes.According to detectives, Edwards was last seen around 7 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, in the vicinity of the 2800 block of Somerset Drive. He was reportedly last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and black boots.Described as weighing approximately 125 pounds and standing 5 feet 4 inches tall, Edwards is bald with brown eyes. Newly released video shows the moment a Medford woman’s leg got caught in an MBTA Green Line train door earlier this week. The incident happened on Monday. On Thursday Rebecca Mason shared her reaction after viewing surveillance video. “My leg was stuck and I was calling for help,” she said. Mason, 36, previously told 7NEWS she was helping her son get off the trolley at the Medford/Tufts stop when the doors closed on her. In a subsequent statement, the MBTA explained “preliminary findings suggest standard procedures were not correctly followed by the operator, which led to the doors shutting prematurely.”New video of the incident shows the trolley initially parked with its doors open. A Palm Beach County man was arrested this week after federal officials say he threatened to kill U.S House Rep. Eric Swalwell and his family, officials say.Michael Shapiro, 72, of Greenacres, is charged with making an interstate threatening communication after he left five threatening voicemails at the representative’s D.C office in late December, according to a criminal complaint.The complaint did not name Swalwell, a California representative who ran for president in 2020.
