Broncos stock report: Ja’Quan McMillian’s rise continues in Monday night win at Buffalo Stock upCB Ja’Quan McMillianWhat more can you say about this guy? He’s unheralded – undrafted out of Eastern Carolina last year – and he’s not very big. But he just keeps making plays since Vance Joseph made him the starting nickel five weeks ago. McMillian had five tackles for loss across two games against Kansas City and started this one by stripping James Cook on the first snap of the game. He’s feisty, he’s tough and he just keeps making plays.WR Courtland SuttonSutton’s going to need a couple of big games in order to hit 1,000 yards this season, but make no mistake about it: He’s having a good year. Sutton’s ridiculous toe-drag touchdown against Buffalo was his seventh already this season, a career best. In four years besides 2019, his best as a pro, Sutton totaled eight touchdown grabs. He made a couple of other big plays in this game, including a 30-yarder that jump-started a field goal drive late in the first half.QB Russell WilsonIt hasn’t always been pretty, but Wilson rea...

He tried two against Buffalo — and a timely mulligan ORCHARD PARK, New York — Friday is Hurricane awareness day for the Broncos’ field goal unit. That’s the time each week when kicker Wil Lutz and the rest of the group work through the kicking equivalent of tracing a hurricane evacuation route along Lake Erie shore. You drill it. You know it. You try your best to pay attention to it. And you never use it.Until that one freak time it comes up.Monday night, the storm finally arrived for kicker Wil Lutz and company. The Broncos nearly got swallowed up by the water, but close doesn’t count when it comes to drowning.“Yeah, I mean, this is what you sign up for as a kicker,” Lutz said after he hit a walk-off, 36-yard field goal to lift Denver to a 24-22 victory against Buffalo here.Well, not entirely.Lutz arrived at a blustery Highmark Stadium having kicked in 105 NFL games. Never in that span over seven-plus seasons had he encountered an instance that Denver calls “hurricane.”That’s the situation that arises occasionally at the end of a ...

Opinion: Reckoning with Colorado’s racist roots for a more equitable future We are experiencing a systematic attack on the truthful telling of history. This should concern us all.At a time when dedicated national efforts attempt to prevent or reframe the teaching of Black history and the history of other oppressed groups, it is more important than ever that we work to fully understand and reckon with our past.Racial justice studies are an important tool that governments use to acknowledge history, clarify how history informs social and economic realities in the present, and make informed decisions about how to write a stronger tomorrow, both for historically oppressed groups and for us all.Recent in-depth coverage from The Denver Post highlighted Colorado’s own tragic legacy of segregation, redlining, violence, and government-backed systematic racism faced by Black Coloradans. This dark part of our state’s history is something that many children won’t learn about in school. As a result, many Colorado natives remain uninformed and unaware of the way that rac...
