Rutland man pleads not guilty to drug trafficking BURLINGTON, Vt. (NEWS10) -- A Rutland man has pled not guilty to drug trafficking charges, according to the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Vermont. Roosevelt Norris, 54, was charged with three counts of distributing cocaine base by a federal grand jury in Burlington. According to the court, Norris allegedly sold drugs to a confidential informant on three separate occasions between July and August. If convicted, Norris faces up to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $1 million. Additionally, Norris would face up to a lifetime of post-release supervision, with a mandatory minimum of three years of supervised release. He currently remains in the custody of the United States Marshals pending his trial.

(AP) — A Missouri judge tossed Republican-written ballot summary language Monday that described several proposed constitutional amendments as allowing “dangerous and unregulated abortions until live birth.”Cole County Circuit Judge Jon Beetem rewrote the ballot summary to describe the language as establishing the “right to make decisions about reproductive health care, including abortion and contraception,” as well as undoing the state’s almost total ban on abortions.In Missouri, summaries are provided to voters on ballots to help quickly explain sometimes lengthy and complicated proposals. Eviction notices piling up in Los Angeles With COVID-era protections gone, the number of renters facing eviction in Los Angeles continues to climb by the thousands each month.From February through the end of August, approximately 50,000 eviction notices were filed by landlords in the city, according to figures released on Monday by the L.A. Controller’s Office.From February through July 2023, the city received 40,000 notices.
