AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A 21-year-old man from Amsterdam was arrested following an investigation into a stabbing on September 6. State Police charged Thaj E. Sobers with assault in the second degree and criminal contempt in the second degree. Get the latest news, weather, and sports delivered right to your inbox! Police say the victim sustained stab wounds to the head and face. Investigations determined that Sobers got into an altercation with the victim in the area of Main Street in Fort Johnson. Sobers reportedly stabbed the victim multiple times. The victim was transported to the Albany Medical Center with serious injuries. Police located Sobers during a traffic stop on Church Street in Amsterdam. During the investigation, Sobers was observed having phone contact with an individual. FORT ANN, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Multiple first responders were dispatched to Sleeping Beauty Mountain on Sunday evening for a hiker experiencing heat exhaustion. OPPENHEIM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Fulton County man was arrested on September 5 following an alleged armed burglary at a residence in Oppenheim. Police charged Wayne A. Gallt, 64, with burglary in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, and menacing in the second degree. State Police responded to the residence at around 8:30 p.m. Investigations determined that Gallt entered the home uninvited and displayed what appeared to be a handgun. A motorcyclist died Sunday after he was hit Friday by a driver at an Aurora intersection.The crash happened Friday afternoon just before 4:30 p.m. in the 400 block of South Abilene Street, Aurora police said in a Tuesday news release.A man riding a motorcycle was driving north on Abilene when the driver of a Honda SUV turned left from a shopping center parking lot.Both the man and the SUV driver, a woman, were taken to a hospital.
