INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Football Championship Subdivision schools soon could be paying more — a lot more — to move to the NCAA’s top level of competition. The Division I Council is considering a proposal that would increase the transition fee from $5,000 to $5 million, effective upon approval of the measure. All Football Bowl Subdivision schools also would be required to provide 90% of the allowable scholarships in 16 sports, including football, over a rolling two-year period. The measure also calls on FBS schools to offer at least 210 scholarships per year at a price tag no lower than $6 million. If approved, the new rules would take effect Aug. 1, 2027, for current FBS members and FCS schools applying to make the move by 2024-25. Schools that apply after 2024-25 would have to meet the requirements before the end of the two-year transition process. It also would immediately eliminate the FBS attendance requirement.“These requirements will directly benefit college athletes competing i...Kyrie Irving, Draymond Green, Kyle Kuzma stay put as NBA free agency opens, sources tell AP

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Bruce Brown Jr. is leaving the NBA champion Denver Nuggets for a two-year, $45 million deal with the Indiana Pacers, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Friday. The person requested anonymity because the deal has not yet been announced publicly and said the deal includes a team option for the second year.Brown started 31 games and was a key contributor in the playoffs for the Nuggets last season. He averaged 11.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists during the regular season.Denver wanted to keep Brown, but was prevented by salary cap rules from offering a deal anywhere near the one the Pacers offered. Indiana was trying to get younger and better defensively on the perimeter before last week’s NBA draft. But trading partners wanted Indiana’s No. 7 overall pick — something the Pacers were unwilling to do.Instead, they made a rare early splash in free agency by adding the 26-year-old Brown to a young, emerging roster led by A...Kyrie Irving agrees to stay with Mavs, Doncic on a $126 million, 3-year deal, AP source says

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because contracts can’t be signed until Thursday. The Mavericks paired All-Star starters for the first time in franchise history by adding Irving in a blockbuster deal with Brooklyn last February, but stumbled down the stretch to miss the playoffs for the first time since Doncic was a rookie in 2018-19.Dallas was in the middle of the postseason chase when Irving joined the club, but the eight-time All-Star and Doncic, a four-time choice, were just 5-11 together with both missing multiple games because of injuries. The Mavericks won their first two games with Irving but went 7-18 the rest of the way and couldn’t even make the play-in tournament a year after reaching the ...Rocket Mortgage Classic Par Scores
